Ropewalk Software is the trading name of Jamie Wainwright, sole trader, South Liverpool L19. I’m the person responsible for any personal details this website collects or that I use to contact businesses. You can reach me at .
This notice explains what details I hold, where they come from, what I do with them, and how to ask me to stop.
If you use the contact form
When you send the form, the details you enter (your name, company, email address, phone number if you give it, and your message) are emailed to me. I use them only to reply to you and to arrange the chat you asked for. They aren’t shared with anyone else and aren’t used for marketing.
If you’d like the details you sent to be deleted, and I’ll remove them.
If I’ve emailed you about my services
I sometimes contact local businesses that I think might benefit from what I do. If you’ve had an email from me out of the blue, this is how and why.
Who I contact. Only businesses: limited companies and similar organisations in and around the Liverpool City Region. I write to a named director or manager at their work address. I don’t contact sole traders or individuals at personal addresses.
Where I got your details. From information the business has made public: usually the company’s own website, the Companies House register, or a public business directory. I don’t buy lists and I don’t collect details from social media.
What I hold. Your name, your role, the business you work for, your work email address, and brief notes on what I found on your website that made me think I could help. Nothing else.
Why I’m allowed to. UK data protection law lets a business contact another business about relevant services where it has a legitimate interest in doing so and that interest isn’t outweighed by the other person’s rights. I’ve considered that balance: I’m writing to people in their business role, about something relevant to their business, a small number of times, with an easy way to say no.
What I’ll do with them. Send you a short series of emails about how I might help, over a few weeks, and stop if you reply or ask me to. I won’t pass your details to anyone else. The website link in those emails includes a short tag so I can tell a visit came from an email, rather than from a search or from someone typing the address.
How to stop me. Reply to any email with “no thanks”, or , and I won’t contact you again. I keep a record of your email address only so that I can make sure I don’t.
How long I keep your details. If you don’t reply, I stop writing after the last email in the series and won’t contact you again for at least 12 months. I delete your details within 12 months of my last email unless we’ve been in touch in the meantime. If you ask me to stop, I keep your email address on my do-not-contact list for as long as I’m trading, so the request is honoured.
Your rights
You can ask me what details I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete them, or object to my using them. and I’ll deal with it within a month. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
This website
This site doesn’t use advertising cookies, and it doesn’t use tools that record your visit. I use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people come to the site and which pages they look at. It doesn’t use cookies and it doesn’t identify you. It records aggregated counts such as the page viewed, the referring site, country, and browser or device. I use Vercel Speed Insights to see how quickly the pages load. Vercel’s details are in their analytics privacy notice and Privacy Policy. I use Google Search Console to check how the site appears in Google search; that isn’t a script on this page.
When you send the contact form, or ask to see the email address or phone number, Google reCAPTCHA runs a check to stop spam. That’s covered by Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
